Placements for Therapists in Training
We have space for 1 or 2 students each year to join us for their clinical placement hours. Placement hours are available 10am - 6pm, Monday-Thursday.
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is a complex modality that involves adding a sentient being into the client-therapist dyad to form a therapeutic triad of client-therapist-horse. Therefore, a solid grounding in dyadic ways of working is essential before undertaking a placement with us.
Our requirements for placements are:

You must be studying counselling, psychotherapy, or psychology at postgraduate level and

You must have either an undergraduate degree in psychology or experience working in a supportive capacity (e.g. psychological wellbeing practitioner, teacher, nurse, etc)
Placement Expectations
We expect you to:

Commit to a placement of at least 75 hours total, with a minimum of 2 client hours per week

Prioritise clinical excellence and be open to learning

Attend supervision at a fixed time each week

Complete clinical admin, including diary management, risk assessments, letter writing, and creating formulations

Attend at least 5 hours of training with us before placement commences

Continue to develop your relationship with the herd throughout the placement by spending time with the horses, helping with their care, and attending internal CPD

Provide regular individual supervision at no cost

Prioritise your wellbeing and support you as needed throughout the placement

Offer fortnightly group supervision at no cost
