Emily Walters
Founder & CEO
Trainee Counselling Psychologist

Since my first riding lesson aged 5, I've loved horses. I've worked on many yards, ridden competitively, run a small riding school, and when I found an equal love for psychology I then realised my passion in the Equine Assisted Psychotherapy field. From personal experience, I know that the horse-human relationship can be life changing; they are special creatures whose intuition and responsiveness can heal so many wounds.
Hope Meadows is my pride and joy, and as Founder-CEO a big part of my role is supporting the team (both two-legged and four-legged) to thrive, so that we can continue helping people have better mental health, in an authentic way, that is professional and backed by research.

I currently have a small caseload of clients for Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, and working alongside our herd every day is definitely my happy place!
Working with Me

Professionally, I am a Trainee Counselling Psychologist in the final stages of doctoral training. We all get stuck in patterns that don't serve us, and my approach to therapy is that change and healing happens through first rebuilding our relationship to ourselves, including our relationship with our body. So many of us disconnect as a way to cope, but this ends up taking us further away from the life we want. We end up struggling with low self-esteem, perfectionism, burnout, stress, eating/body image difficulties, or unfulfilling relationships. If this sounds familiar, let's get together and help you make sense of what's holding you back. We will concentrate on reaching depth, so that even the really uncomfortable parts can come out, and I will push you to safely make the changes that you want to see.

Why Equine Assisted Psychotherapy? Horses communicate solely through body language, energy, and intention, and through working with them we feel more supported, more connected, and we realise our patterns sooner. Some clients come to Equine Assisted Psychotherapy because they've tried other therapies that they didn't find effective, or they didn't like the clinical environment, or because they need an approach that better supports their body. Clients who choose to see me for Equine Assisted Psychotherapy are those who are ready for an exploration of their inner world to change deep-rooted difficulties.

I work predominantly with adults and children over the age of 14. My sessions are accepting, non-judgemental, neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQ+ welcoming.
My sessions cost £70 for 50mins. My online booking is not currently available, but you can get in touch with us directly and our wonderful admin, Rachel, will get you booked in.
