Angie Smith
Children's Therapist
I’m Angie, I am a qualified cognitive behavioural therapist (CBT) and I integrate CBT techniques into Equine Assisted Therapy here at Hope Meadows.

I have experience working with children and adults who have a range of mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety disorders, and the impact of neurodivergence. Much of my work involves supporting people to better manage stress, relationships and strengthening their self-esteem/confidence.

Together we can work on identifying and managing challenging emotions and negative thoughts that are causing us difficulties. We can then explore practical lifestyle changes and develop re-framing skills to shift negative thinking styles into healthier, more balanced, and realistic thinking styles, to enhance your overall wellbeing, resilience, and happiness. We will develop a strong therapeutic relationship, and we will working collaboratively to identify areas that where you would like to see changes. Then I will support you to take small, realistic steps towards your long term goals.

I particularly enjoy being able to be more active and involved with nature and animals during therapy sessions, and this often suits clients who may struggle with the idea of sitting still for 50 minutes! Being able to spend time engaging with nature, be around horses (whether this be watching them from a distance or getting hands-on) provides a unique therapeutic experience in a calming environment.
